Moroda by L.L. MacRae
Bickering
B-Team Saves the World
An Indie Book Review by Joseph Poopinski

There’s a respectable cast of singular characters in L.L. MacRae’s fantasy story. These folks from different backgrounds & circumstances find themselves cooperating (sometimes reluctantly) for the survival of civilization against an unstoppable enemy, who with dragon magic-enhanced powers of telepathy would rule the world with his cronies. But, similarly to the Mule from Asimov’s Foundation saga, almost everyone dislikes the bad guy, including the dragons...
Besides
our main heroine Moroda learning, coping & adapting to adversity, her
friends practice & refine their unique skills too. The stakes kept building, compounding before
each trial. As always, mistakes &
losses complicate matters. Although this
could be a dragon/war story, I enjoyed it as a “characters becoming better
versions of themselves” tale. Other
notable fun features: Shapeshifters
galore (tigers, snakes, etc.), ingenuity/resilience, arcane artifacts, Raiden
from Mortal Kombat but with angel’s wings, flying skypirate ships & a
couple of dragons too!
